Shes an ex-angel she was stripped of her wings because she fell in love with a demon. As you would guess this is forbidden. So when her father God found out he reluctantly banished her. She now has to live with the shame of a broken hallow and a scar circling her neck and chin. It shows that she is an unholy being, demons, phantoms ex-angels and other beings that commit unforgivable sins get these scars. The more unforgiving sins they commit the bigger the scar gets meaning they slowly get corrupted. Until it consumes their whole body.
